wait...does Martha Stewart sew?
Back when Emma was born I asked my mom to make her her own special blessing dress. She collaborated with her mom and made the sweetest little dress that I just adore. Jamison's mom had a friend make her a little crocheted blanket, and I made her little headband. I love the knowing that her outfit was made with love by 3 generations of women in the family.
Well, Kylie is a bit bigger {a LOT bigger} than Emma was when she was blessed, so even if I wanted to put her in the same dress she would not have fit it. Totally ok though because my goal is to have each daughter/son have their own individual blessing outfit so they can keep it when they grow up.
My mom and I searched for a cute pattern online for a few hours before we realized that we either thought the dresses we saw were too expensive or *cough cough* ugly *cough*. Mom saw picture of a little cutie in a fabric layered dress, and we decided we'd recreate it with some slight adjustments like using lace. My mom rocks! She cut out the base without even using a pattern! We took a trip to the fabric store and found the perfect lace, and ribbon for the trim, and got started!
We love the way it turned out!

My grandma (dad's mom) crocheted Kylie's blanket and I LOVE it. Anything made by her is very special to me, so I'm glad Kylie gets to have something of her own made by her Great Grandma. |
All three of us Pruitt women wore pearls for this special day...and for some reason I was so super giddy about it. It's the little things..
I loved the way they turned out! And more importantly, I love being able to say that we handmade our babies' dresses with all the love in the world. So special, and we'll treasure the pictures and memories for years to come. Love my little sweeties!
