.just call me martha.

wait...does Martha Stewart sew?

Back when Emma was born I asked my mom to make her her own special blessing dress.  She collaborated with her mom and made the sweetest little dress that I just adore.  Jamison's mom had a friend make her a little crocheted blanket, and I made her little headband.  I love the knowing that her outfit was made with love by 3 generations of women in the family.

Well, Kylie is a bit bigger {a LOT bigger} than Emma was when she was blessed, so even if I wanted to put her in the same dress she would not have fit it.  Totally ok though because my goal is to have each daughter/son have their own individual blessing outfit so they can keep it when they grow up.

My mom and I searched for a cute pattern online for a few hours before we realized that we either thought the dresses we saw were too expensive or *cough cough* ugly *cough*.  Mom saw picture of a little cutie in a fabric layered dress, and we decided we'd recreate it with some slight adjustments like using lace.  My mom rocks!  She cut out the base without even using a pattern!  We took a trip to the fabric store and found the perfect lace, and ribbon for the trim, and got started!

.Big sister Emma even helped out.

I hand sewed the lace on before my mom took it to the sewing machine to secure it.  This dress was so super easy to make, but with tending to the girls and doing a few other projects at the same time, the dress took about a week to complete.

We love the way it turned out!

.blessing outfit.

My grandma (dad's mom) crocheted Kylie's blanket and I LOVE it.  Anything made by her is very special to me, so I'm glad Kylie gets to have something of her own made by her Great Grandma.
In the process of making Kylie's dress, Emma decided she needed a "pretty dress" of her own.  So midway through Kylie's dress, mom and I went back to the store to pick up some material to make a dress for Emma.  The lace on this dress took a LOT longer to hand sew.  12 {freaking} layers of lace!  But I think it was so worth it because it looked super cute on my little lady.  Their matching dresses made my heart happy.

All three of us Pruitt women wore pearls for this special day...and for some reason I was so super giddy about it.  It's the little things..

I loved the way they turned out!  And more importantly, I love being able to say that we handmade our babies' dresses with all the love in the world.  So special, and we'll treasure the pictures and memories for years to come.  Love my little sweeties!

.1 month.

I can't believe I'm already saying this, but Happy 1 month sweet Kylie!  You turned 1 month on Wednesday. I'm not ready for you to grow up as fast as you have been.  You already don't feel like a newborn, and this week we've realized you have just about outgrown your newborn clothes.  We're trading out your NB clothes for your 0-3 month clothes within the next couple days.  Your sister fit her NB clothes for 3 months, so you have already surpassed her growth rate!

You are such a joy to have in our family.  And, to be honest, it doesn't feel like we've ever been without you.  You fit so well, and your sister adores you!  One of her favorite things to do is lay right beside you while I change both of your diapers.  You LOVE to reach over and touch her, and she giggles every time.  That's definitely one of my favorite things to see!  She's your #1 fan, always running to give you a binky if you make the slightest fuss, she hushes your daddy if she thinks he's talking too loud when you're sleeping, and she loves to help me pick you up out of your bed.  I'm so glad you two are already the sweetest friends.

Speaking of your bed...you are not a big fan of your bassinet, so daddy fashioned a quaint little bed using your bathtub...and you sleep SO well in it!  A parent's gotta do what a parent's gotta do to get some sleep. :)  One day maybe you'll forgive us, haha.  Probably not until you have kids of your own and are willing to do whatever it takes to get some shut-eye.

You are the sweetest babe.  You only cry when you're hungry or tired.  You love to watch mommy and daddy walk around the room when you're awake...for some reason that's entertaining to you.  Since you were 2 weeks old you've been a champ and will sleep for a good 5 hours most nights..  LOVE that about you!

I can go on and on about how much we love you Kylie bug.  Thank you for coming to our little family and making us a little more complete.  I can't wait to see what the future days and months bring.  I'm excited to see what discoveries you'll make and how much you'll grow.

Happy 1 month baby doll, here's to making more memories with you in our lives.

.In love.

We are in love all over again.  Life with a newborn and a toddler certainly isn't easy, but at the same time it's been so so fun.  We have loved seeing Emma be an amazing big sister...and we were definitely missing having a baby around to snuggle.  Best of both worlds.  Now, if we can just get a good night's rest, just one night, we'd be golden.

.Kylie.

Jamison and I had Emma's name picked out before we ever knew we were going to have a baby girl back in 2011.  This time around, we had a name picked out, but decided against it soon after finding out we were having a girl.  We had the hardest time narrowing it down.  I liked Mia, but Jay wasn't a huge fan of it being the first name, but he couldn't come up with any other names either.  Finally, about 2 months before Kylie was born, we sat down and wrote down our top 5, and came up with Kylie Mia.  Jamison picked out Kylie, and I picked Mia.  It's the perfect fit, and we are loving on our little lady bug.

We had a newborn shoot done when Kylie was 2 weeks old, on July 28th, and we love how the pictures came out!  Enjoy.

.baby baby baby.

our little Emma bug is going to be a big sister!  baby girl #2 is due to join our family July 11th!!  so, we're already 22 weeks along (5 1/2 months), and mama's feeling huge.  thank goodness there are only about 4 months left...we are already so so anxious to meet our sweet little baby.  we still need to have the confirmation ultrasound to make sure it's a girl (we did an early gender reveal at 14 1/2 weeks), so that update will come soon, but we've already been referring to the baby as though it's a girl....so i guess we'll see if that's been right.  haha.

we found out we were pregnant with this sweet little one the day before Emma's 2nd birthday, Nov. 4th, which was so fun!  it was that very day, 2 years ago that we went into the hospital to have Emma, so it was really neat for me to relive that day in 2011 and compare it to now beginning preparations for 2 babies.  both amazing and happy days for sure.

this pregnancy is way way different from my pregnancy with Emma.  nausea was all the same for the first 4 months, and, as long as i eat on time, i have little to no nausea now.  i already can't sleep at night because i'm so uncomfortable, yuck.  and it feels like this baby is sitting low in my tummy because i have constant pains and soreness in my lower stomach, more-so if i stand for certain periods of time, or pick Emma up a lot during the day.  both are inevitable, so i'm pretty much in pain all the time - sucks, but it's worth it.  we're working on finding ways to work around the struggles of the pregnancy, and hopefully we'll find ways that work for us soon so we can do everything we'd like to do - especially outdoors now that the weather is amazing again.   - my little one loves the park and going for walks -

Emma's been great with the whole thing.  the very first time i told her there was a baby in mommy's tummy she ran to her room and brought back a comb and a heavier toy.  she then climbed up on the couch next to me and first tried to cut my stomach open with the comb (clearly to save her baby from being in mommy's tummy), and when that didn't work she tried to hammer the baby out of me.  i couldn't stop laughing.  it was cute to me to see her trying to save the baby.

she has been a little bit jealous that J and i have been saying there's a baby in my stomach...so lately she's been referring to herself as "the baby".  i'll say, "emma, do you want to say hi to the baby?"  and she'll respond with, "no...me baby!"  *translation: "No, i'm the baby!"   she's been getting better with it, but i don't think she'll fully understand until she actually meets the baby, so until then, we're practicing with how to tend to her baby dolls.  and she's been great.  i think she's ready to be a big sister though.  she's so sweet with little babies at church, and when they cry she always comes to tell me that the baby is sad.  we'll see how it goes.  i'm nervous/anxious/excited.  eep!

we've got a couple of name choices for baby girl, and we haven't been able to narrow it down to one yet.  it's killing me not having her name picked already.  we knew Emma's name right away so it was nice to be able to call her by name all throughout my pregnancy...and we just haven't been able to do that yet with this little one.  honestly i don't think we'll have her name decided on until we meet her...not my favorite thing ever, but i guess it'll have to do.  we can't wait to meet her and see her sweet little face!  we're anxious to see if she's a mini Emma, or if she arrives looking completely different.  we're still thinking there's a possibility that she'll arrive with darker skin and black hair like me...wouldn't that be a sight.  our daughters would look like complete opposites - night and day.  haha.  my guess is she'll look like daddy too though, which i'm totally okay with!  it's fun to have people think i'm the babysitter or nanny...seriously happens all the time with Emma!

however she comes, we'll kiss and love on her like crazy, and give thanks every day to be blessed with 2 sweet, angel babies.
can't wait!
